MIAMI, FL (August 24, 2022) – Brilla Media Ventures / Nuestro Stories has been named a semi-finalist for Pharrell’s 2022 Black Ambition Prize which seeks out promising, purpose-driven ventures that are “dedicated to creating an impact by building, investing, and positively influencing their communities.”

Judges lauded the Latina-owned media and digital entertainment company for its flagship platform Nuestro Stories, ( which is a digital media, documentaries and social media platform focused on the U.S. origins and histories of Latinos.  Brilla is also a joint venture partner with The JOY Collective for Nuestro Stories’ counterpart platform, Our Black Origins (

In a statement announcing this year’s semi-finalists from among thousands of applications, Black Ambition leaders said, “With support from our network of program partners, business leaders, VCs, and seasoned entrepreneurs, we were able to evaluate a very competitive pool of applicants.”

Brilla now enters a new round of competition with other ventures that range from media and entertainment to tech, consumer products, services, and healthcare.

Earlier this summer, Co-Founder and Brilla Media Ventures CEO Angela Sustaita-Ruiz was named to Inicio Ventures’ 100 Rising Latinx Founders to Watch List.
